Over the years we have all heard some myths about the process of buying a car at Toyota of the Black Hills. So we put our experience and heads together to bust some of the myths we have heard the most. Here are the top 5 myths…. BUSTED!
MYTH #1· WHEN THE SALES PERSON GOES TO SPEAK WITH THE SALES MANAGER,
THEY ARE JUST PLAYING MIND GAMES.
Myth Busted: As much as you may think the sales person leaves the table as part of a ploy to psych you out, the truth is – they actually to need to get their boss to sign off on every deal before they can move forward with the sale, legally and contractually.
MYTH #2 · EXTENDED WARRANTIES ARE A RIP-OFF
Myth Busted: No need to think that every additional thing the dealers push your way is a complete scam. Simply put, they’re not. It’s a good decision if the vehicle is new. If an extended warranty is something that may benefit you, just make sure it’s either a manufacturer extended warranty or one that is backed by a large company with a good reputation and customer service. Plus, the newer the car, the cheaper the warranty is.
MYTH #3 · KELLEY BLUE BOOK IS THE ABSOLUTE PRICE
Myth Busted: Kelley Blue Book is a great tool to get a good idea at what your vehicle is worth. But it is just that a tool to use for reference. Sometimes when a person puts a value to their own car, they are wearing rose colored glasses and may think more highly of the car than what its actually worth. So if you want an accurate price, you still need to have a professional look at your vehicle and give you a more definite trade-in price. Another tip would be to check through recent sales of similar cars in your area to find the going rate.
MYTH #4 · PAYING CASH WILL GET A BETTER DEAL THAN FINANCING
Myth Busted: Just because you’re paying cash doesn’t mean the car is magically going to become cheaper when buying from a dealership. However, it is a good way to finalize a deal completely within your means. Choose which ever works best for you, cash or finance, either way the Toyota of the Black Hills will still give you the same great deal on the vehicle.
MYTH #5 · I CAN TRICK THE SALES PERSON INTO A BETTER DEAL
Myth Busted: If you try to scheme or plot against your sales person, you’re only wasting time, because they have seen and heard it all. You may think that trying to fool them or bluff that your not interested or act like your going to walk away – may result in you getting a better deal, but you are wrong. Save yourself the hassle (and acting classes). Make your interest in the car known, make it known that you’re a responsible buyer and things should go smoothly.
