The Black Hills is our home and that’s why we do whatever we can to help our neighbors who also live here. Whether it’s a blood drive, toy drive, food drive, or any other kind of community event, our appreciation and pride in this area drives our giving!
Check out these past and future events weâre honored to be a part of. For nonprofit events, help us support charitable organizations doing great work in our area. These organizations can always use your time and financial support.
Fall
Our Toys for Tots drive kicked off Nov. 4 and lasted until Jan. 3.Through our sales and service departments at all three of our Rapid City stores, we collected 238 toys, winter clothing items and shoes. We also awarded $500 to one of our generous donors.Â
Love INCâs annual fall fundraising âHope and Love Dinner and Dessert Auctionâ will be held Monday, Nov. 25, from 5-8:30 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
Girl Scouts â Dakota Horizonsâ âWomen of Distinctionâ event on Nov. 12 honored local women âwhose professional accomplishments make them positive role models who inspire girls to achieve their own goals and dreams.â
Proceeds from this yearâs Raw Couture, a high-energy, abstract fashion show, will benefit Feeding South Dakota.
The Cornerstone Rescue Mission’s third-annual “Night of Hope for the Homeless” starts at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, with a barbecue for the civic leaders who will be spending the night at the mission as well as for event sponsors.
Sample some amazing BBQ and fight breast cancer one bite at a time at Taste of the Hills on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 5-8 p.m. at Main Street Square.
The Denny Menholt Wings & Wheels Car Show is Saturday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You can park your classic vehicle or motorcycle with vintage aircraft for $15 if you register by Tuesday, Sept. 10, or $20 the day of the show. And visitors who want to check out the cars and motorcycles get in free!
All makes/models welcome, over 50 trophies awarded, goodie bags, door prizes, a free lunch for registered attendees, and more!
All proceeds benefit the South Dakota Air & Space Museum. Early registration for $15 per vehicle or motorcycle ends Tuesday, Sept. 10. Same-day registration is $20.

Spring
19th annual Rapid City Young Life Golf Tournament at Hart Ranch is Friday, May 17.
The 7th annual, family-friendly Make-A-Wish Walk for Wishes on Saturday, May 18, is a fun morning of exercise, kid-friendly activities and camaraderie! Join us as we take steps to grant more wishes for critically ill kids in our community.
The Great American Book Festival, a free event at Main Street Square in Rapid City, SD, is a celebration of the written word. Various events run May 10-11.
Spearfish Fire Department’s Free Annual Community Pancake Supper starts at 5 p.m. May 2.
The Rapid City Concert Association‘s “Masters of Soul” is a celebration of 60s’ artists, their music and style and will be held April 29 at 7:30 p.m.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2019 is April 26-May 14, and every dollar raised goes directly into making matches of Bigs and Littles in the Black Hills.
Join us in supporting Feeding South Dakota through their Empty Bowls event on Tuesday, April 23. This event benefits the work of Feeding South Dakota’s Child Hunger programs in western South Dakota.

January is National Blood Donor Month, so we rolled up our sleeves and donated blood — along with Vitalant, KOTA Territory News, Black Hills FOX News and Duhamel Broadcasting — as part of the Community Heroes Blood Drive. During the two-day drive, volunteers donated a record-setting 231 units of blood, 29 more than the previous year!
Once the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo gets underway Jan. 25 and runs until Feb. 3, make sure to listen for our daily sponsored updates. Tune in to either Eagle Country 95.9096.3 KZZI every day at 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or News Radio KOTA every day at 8:20 a.m. and 4:20 p.m.
